  1. i bought a factory steering wheel audio Control for my 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer and realized the switch doesn't control the radio. do I need to switch out the harness under the dash or is the radio not capable of this type of control? can I add jumper wires to the harness to use this control feature? anyone know?

  2. Elsa, technically you could connect your 2006 Ford Explorer amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever your 2006 Ford Explorer is on and off whenever your 2006 Ford Explorer is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2006 Ford Explorer amplifier install.

  4. Rich, the 2006 Ford Explorer reverse wire can also be found at the smart junction box. The smart junction box can be found under the driver side of the dash. Tap the same color wire (brown/blue) at the smart junction box (pin #6, connector D) and it will give you a reverse trigger. Hope this helps.   5. trying to locate reverse wire on 2006 explorer to install backup camera. Found brown/blue stripe wire underneath drivers side kick panel. Hooked up volt meter and this wire does not show any deflection on the meter when the car is placed in reverse–should show about 12 volts. Confused?? Have seen some pictures that show reverse wire with gray/blue stripe

I have a 2003 ford explorer, I brought a aftermarket radio with a rear view camera I'm trying to locate the reverse wire on my car so I can splice into near my radio so it will work when in reverse and the color I'm looking for cause one guy said to run a long wire from my radio to my back light it is another way maybe under my dash.

  12. Seth, if you take apart your steering column, you'll find the ignition switch and its wiring. Look for a purple/green wire that leads to the ignition switch. This wire is your ACC (Accessory) wire. To make the connection simply splice your red wire into the accessory wire. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  13. I am trying to connect my ipod to my 2006 explorer using a harman/kardon drive+play. It says, "direct connection of the 12v power harness with the in-line fuse. Use this method when you want a permanent power connection to the vehicle. Also by connecting the harness's red wire to the ignition switch's ACC terminal. Where do I find the ACC Terminal? What does it look like? How do I make the connection?

  14. Ryan, you need to splice in a line out converter. Wire the line-out converter to the rear speakers. Here is the Line-Out Converter you need:

  15. I have a 2006 Explorer with Navigation and am looking to add a 10″ sub with 2 channel amp. How can I go about hooking up my RCA's to the radio? Do I need a line converter or are there pre outs on the back. I do not have a factory rear seat entertainment package installed if that matters.

  17. Steven, for the vehicle speed sensor, use the purple/orange wire in the 50 pin plug (pin #1) located at the PCM. The PCM is located in the passenger side of the firewall. For the reverse light, use the brown/blue wire in the D connector (pin #6) located at the SJB. The SJB is located under the driver side dash. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  19. Terry, use the Blue/Red wire at the radio wiring harness for constant power and use the Green/White wire at the radio wiring harness for switched power. The easiest way to ground a wire is by using a factory bolt. Find a factory bolt that is attached to your car chassis and ground your wire there using a ring terminal (see below).

  20. Hi, I have a 2006 Ford Explorer and am installing an XM Turk Commander. I need to find two fuses (one for constant power, the other for switched power) to tap into for the Commander's power.
